GRITTERS are on their way to Colne due to heavy snow causing treacherous conditions for drivers.

According to a spokesman from Colne road policing unit there is currently a backlog of traffic in the town, which officers are helping to clear.

The road surface in Albert Road is said to be particularly icy, as well as various back streets.

Adverse weather conditions also caused problems for drivers in Barnoldswick this morning.

At 8-23am, a man driving a blue Toyota avoided injury after crashing into a wall, in Bracewell Street.

And later, police received reports of a car colliding into a gas pipe, in Gisburn Road. The gas pipe remains safe, and police said the driver “failed to stop”.
