Drugs raids: 5 in court

FIVE Nelson men have appeared in court charged with heroin supply offences.

This follows a series of early morning drugs raids in Nelson on Wednesday last week.

Shujaht Khan (21), of St Paul’s Road, Shaun Lally (27), of Burns Street, Abid Rafique (37), of Gordon Road, Vincas Urbonaviciuis (38) of Every Street and Abid Ali (320, of Victoria Street, Nelson all appeared at Pennine Magistrates Court and were remanded to appear at Burnley Crown Court for plea and case management hearings on March 11th.

Khan faces six charges of supplying heroin, three of supplying crack cocaine, three allegations of being concerned in the supply of heroin, one count of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and one allegation of offering to supply heroin.

Rafique is accused of five counts of being concerned in the supply of heroin, eight allegations of supplying the drug and one charge of possessing heroin,

Urbonavicius is charged with five counts of supplying heroin.

A further two men, Damien Drury (34), of Larch Street, Nelson and Ali Hassan Shah (21), of Victoria Avenue, Nelson were also charged with heroin supply offences. They are due to appear at Pennine Magistrates Court on Thursday.
