FOOTBALL: Nelson boy is Manchester United mascot

editorial image

A YOUNG man from Nelson had a great time when he went to Manchester United as a mascot.

Sayf, aged seven, was that day’s DHL-Rainbow Trust mascot for the Manchester United v Everton game. United captain Nemanja Vidic was accompanied by Sayf, walking on to the pitch for the game.

Sayf was specially selected to be mascot by Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, the charity partner for Manchester United’s official logistics partner DHL.

Sayf’s family has been supported by Rainbow Trust for two years. The family’s Rainbow Trust Family Support Worker picks him up from school and spends time with him in the holidays, which enables his parents to spend time in hospital with his younger brother. Sayf was extremely excited about being a mascot for Manchester United.

He said: “It was so cool to be able to meet all the players and be on the pitch in front of 1,000s of people – and they won!”
