Gang attack terror in Colne: police appeal

POLICE have launched a witness appeal after a man was set upon in an unprovoked attack outside Colne Railway Station.

The 40-year-old had just got off a train as he returned home from a session at Brierfield Bridge Club when he was approached by four men who attacked him as he walked through the car park towards Albert Road around 10-30pm last Friday.

A member of the public went to his assistance and the attackers fled, but he had been punched in the face and returned to his home near the station from where he contacted police.

He was taken to Airedale General Hospital where he had stitches inserted in his facial injuries and was detained overnight before being transferred to a hospital in Bradford where he underwent plastic surgery on Saturday. He was released and allowed to come home later that day.

Police issued descriptions of three of the attackers on Wednesday.

One is said to be a slim man wearing a light blue top with a white T-shirt underneath and blue jeans.

A second is also said to be a slim man with short light brown wavy hair, wearing a red and blue top and a grey hat with cream coloured ear flaps.

And a third is said to have short blond straight hair and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call the police on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
