A BURNLEY dad has slammed thugs who attacked his teenage son with a knuckle-duster leaving him needing stitches and frightened to leave the house.

Jewel Ahmed (18), a Burnley College student, may also have a fractured cheekbone following the violent and unprovoked attack as he walked home from a friend’s house around 2-45am on Saturday.

He was walking along Colne Road towards his home in Wynotham Street when he was hit repeatedly around the head with the weapon close to the One Stop Shop.

Jewel, who is studying business and IT, tried to cover his head but was left with a bruised eye and needed nine stitches to his ears and face.

His dad Muhammed Miah (42) said Jewel was attacked by three yobs who then ran off leaving him bleeding in the street. Jewel made his way to his grandma’s house nearby and his dad was called.

Mr Miah said: “There was a lot of blood. This is the second time he has been attacked. The people who did this are just thugs. They also tried to steal his watch, mobile phone and money.”

He took his son to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment and the attack has been reported to police. Jewel will also have to have an X-ray to find out whether his cheekbone has been broken.

The assault comes just months after he was left battered and bruised when he was targeted in a similar incident and his dad has now called for more patrols in the Colne Road area of town.

“He’s really scared to go out. He was shaking. I’ve got two daughters and they’re frightened to go out now. They did him some serious damage.”

A police spokesman said the incident is being investigated.
