Housing provider holds open days

OVER 55s are invited to attend one of four open days in Pendle to see what one of the country’s largest providers of housing and care has to offer.

Not-for-profit organisation Anchor is hosting events at St Clement’s Court, in Barrowford, Ashiana Lodge, in Nelson, Turney Crook Mews, in Colne, and Robinson Court, in Barnoldswick, from 10am to 3pm on January 16th.

The open days will provide information to anybody interested in sheltered housing, either for themselves or for family members. Refreshments will be provided, and scheme managers will also be offering tours.

District manager for Anchor Debra Whitaker said: “Loneliness and isolation amongst older people is a concern in East Lancashire for the families and for health and social workers.

“Living independently in a communal environment has many social and health benefits so it is worth considering.

“Many people think they are not ready for living in a retirement location and it’s something you do at the end of life, but it’s quite the contrary.

“Living in a retirement scheme still allows you to keep your independence. You still have your own front door, kitchen, living area but with the added benefit of living in a safe and secure environment.”
