Landslide closes moor road to West Yorkshire

A ROUTE between Pendle and West Yorkshire has been closed this morning as a result of debris being washed onto the road following the heavy overnight rain.

The road, known locally as Lancashire Moor Road, runs from Laneshaw Bridge to Howarth and was closed around 5 a.m..

Lancashire County Council highway teams are on site at the moment clearing the debris and expect the road to reopen this afternoon

It is estimated around 30 to 40 tonnes of debris have been washed onto the road.
