Nelson owner fined £600 for barking dogs
A NELSON man has been found guilty of persistent noise nuisance caused by his dogs’ barking.
Mohammed Jacob Sadiq (38), of Bracewell Street, failed to appear at Reedley Magistrates’ Court but the case was proved in his absence.
Mr Sadiq was found guilty of 19 separate noise nuisance offences.
He was fined £600 and ordered to pay £175 costs plus a victim surcharge of £15.
Mr Sadiq kept his two dogs in the yard of his business premises, Marsden Wines on Barkerhouse Road in Nelson.
The Staffordshire bull terriers were left unsupervised and would bark day and night.
Neighbours first complained to Pendle Council’s Environmental Health Services in April.
The Domestic Noise team investigated but the noise nuisance continued.
Coun. John David, Executive Member for Environmental Services, said: “It’s totally unacceptable, not to mention cruel, that Mr Sadiq leaves his dogs unsupervised during the day and the night.
“Neighbours of his business premises have suffered long enough, and I hope he will change his ways after picking up this quite hefty fine.”
John Heys, Domestic Noise Officer, said: “Mr Sadiq failed to comply with the requests made to him and will now have to accept the punishment. He had enough warnings.
“We will monitor the situation closely to make sure Mr Sadiq keeps his dogs under better supervision.”
