A peaceful protest to highlight the Gaza crisis is being held outside Nelson Town Hall at 4pm on Sunday.

Organiser Tariq Mushtaq said: “I was shocked at the pictures which showed young children being killed by bombs. I, along with dozens of young people, want to hold this peaceful protest to show our support for fellow human beings in Gaza and Israel. It’s a chance for people to come together in the name of humanity.”

Fellow organiser Zulfiqar Aziz added: “I would urge everyone young and old to spare 30 minutes on Sunday and let’s show the world we care about fellow human beings who are suffering”.

County Coun. Mohammed Iqbal, who has helped organise the event, said: “We have invited people who have family in Gaza as well as local people who have recently returned from the area to share their stories.”
