The fourth annual Pendle Tractor Run raised an amazing and highly impressive amount – just short of £4,000 – for local charities.

The event saw more than 100 vehicles of all shapes and sizes take to the roads to raise money for good causes.

The Lancashire farming community came out in force to enjoy the spectacle, with hundreds of onlookers lining the streets to see the parade of tractors and vintage vehicles make their way through the winding countryside.

The Tractor Run took place in August, but due to the number of donations from far and wide, the organisers have only just been able to get all the monies together and present cheques to the chosen charities.

The event was organised by Laura Standring and Phil Sanderson in partnership with the Pendle Vintage Tractor Run Group.

Laura’s mother and mother-in-law, as well as her brother Andrew Nutter – a Pendle farmer who sadly passed away from bone cancer in April 2009 – were treated for cancer at Royal Blackburn and Royal Preston Hospitals, both of which receive funding from Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

This year it was £3,890 and the event has now raised more than £10,000 during the four years which it has taken place.

All proceeds raised from the event are to be split between Blackburn Chemotherapy Unit and Rosemere Cancer Foundation, supporting the charity in its work funding local cancer care in Lancashire.

Dan Hill, East Lancashire area fund-raising co-ordinator for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “The support we received on the day was amazing and the atmosphere was incredible, with everyone lining the streets to give their support.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to Laura and Phil for organising the event, as well as all the drivers, young farmers, and everybody who was involved on the day.”
