Pendle trio in Great North Run

THREE Pendle people will be aiming to raise hundreds of pounds for charity when they take part in the Great North Run a week on Sunday.

Michael Holden, of Ing Dene Avenue, Colne, Eddie O’Connell, of Phillips Lane, Colne and Sharon Clarke, of Sheridan Street, Nelson, will all be running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields after undergoing several months of training.

It will the two men’s first Great North Run, while Sharon will be running the race for a third time after an unsuccessful bid to take part in the London Marathon in April.

Michael, a support worker at Calderstones Hospital, Whalley and Eddie, who is a staff nurse there, will be running for cystic fibrosis, a charity which Sharon ran on behalf of last year.

She will be running for a leukaemia charity next weekend.
