PHOTOS: Nelson Christmas lights switch on
NELSON had its festive lights switched on on Saturday, with scores of people attending the event which followed the town’s Lancashire Day celebration.
The Mayor of Pendle, Coun. Asjad Mahmood, launched the lights. The ceremony was hosted by Vaughan Jones and there were loud announcements by the Nelson Town Crier Coun. Tony Beckett. And there was lots of entertainment.
Lanterns created from paper - including some published in the Leader Times Newspapers - also went on show. They were designed by David Boultbee. You could fold the paper into a lantern and add a tiny light to brighten it up. They impressed people in the centre.
And, of course, the lights will be on and brighten up the dark until after Christmas.
