Tramper Treks organised to explore Ribble Valley

A SERIES of “Tramper Treks”, allowing people with limited mobility to get out and about in the countryside, has been organied by Ribble Valley Shopmobility.

Trampers are all-terrain scooters available from the local Shopmobility scheme for a small donation. It is essential to book in advance as there are a limited number of scooters available.

The following dates have been set for the Tramper Treks:

Monday September 24th, meeting at Dunsop bridge car park at 1-30 p.m. (Grid Ref. 661500).

Monday October 29th, Stocks Reservoir, meeting at the School Lane car park, Gisburn forest at 1-30 p.m. (GR732565)

Monday November 26th, meeting at Dunsop bridge car park at 1-30 p.m. (GR661500).

Ribble valley Shopmobility, based at The Pendle Club, 113 Lowergate, Clitheroe (BB7 1AG ) has also started a new scheme taking in all unwanted mobility aids and scooters or wheelchairs for recycling. The aim is to clean and repair the equitment then put back into the system.

Simon O’Rourke commented: “We are only at the very early stages of this new project, but any help or space we can use for equipment would be great. If you cannot get the equipment to us please ring (on the above numbers) and we will do our best to pick it up for you.”
