Two injured in town centre accident
TWO people were injured when a car and taxi were in collision on Leeds Road, Nelson, on Friday night.
The taxi driver was rescued by firefighters, while the other car was affected by flames from under the bonnet.
It happened shortly before 10pm outside the Wavelengths Leisure Centre and involved a Ford Galaxy taxi and a Vauxhall Corsa. One vehicle ended up on the pavement.
The taxi driver was extricated from his vehicle by the firefighters who used cutting gear to get him out. He had minor injuries but did not feel he needed to go to hospital.
The male driver of the Corsa had minor leg injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment but was later discharged.
