A WEDDING car is believed to have been involved in a crash on the M65 motorway.

The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between Junctions 11 and 12 near Brierfield at 11-30am.

Reports from the scene say a silver saloon car overturned onto its roof. A van was also involved in the accident.

Paramedics were called in to treat one person with minor injuries who was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital. An ambulance was requested for a second patient who had to be stretchered from the scene as a precaution.

Police confirmed that the injuries were not believed to be serious.

Officers were forced to shut off one lane of the carriageway while the accident is cleared up.

The crash has caused traffic chaos with tailbacks along to motorway up to Junction 11 at Stoneyholme.
