DRIVERS faced misery on the M65 this morning as they made their way through Burnley and Pendle after four separate incidents caused traffic chaos and long tailbacks.

A section of motorway was closed at junction 12 at Brierfield after a smash involving four vehicles at 8-20am. A woman had to be cut from her car and two people were taken to hospital although their injuries were not thought to be serious.

Meanwhile motorists travelling eastbound towards Burnley were faced with delays after a broken down lorry blocked part of the carriageway from 8-15am at junction 9.

There was also an accident westbound at junction 10 in Burnley around 8am but police said there were no injuries.

A fourth accident happened at junction 8, eastbound, near Accrington around 8-30am but was cleared by police.
