chairman of Pendle Constituency Labour Party for the last five years Robert Allen has announced he is stepping down at the next annual meeting.

Mr Allen became the first Labour candidate to win a Pendle Council seat in the Reedley ward at last year’s elections and said in a message to members that this role, combined with several voluntary positions and working part-time, did not give him sufficient time to fulfil the role of chairman.

He said: “I am grateful for all the hard work that fellow officers have put into the party. We haven’t always agreed but I believe collectively the party is stronger for all our efforts.”
