Plans to relocate Nelson central post office

NELSON'S central post office could be on the move in the near future – but not very far.

Post Office Ltd is consulting on a proposal by a newly-appointed sub-postmaster to run Nelson Post Office from premises at a unit in the Pendle Rise Shopping Centre, 300 yards from the branch's current location at the bottom end of the Victory Centre.

Field change adviser Andy Wright said: "This relocation would help to safeguard our presence in the community in the longer term, as well as providing a significant number of customer benefits.

"The new branch would have a purpose-built serving counter and have level access at the entrance to assist customers with mobility difficulties.

"Opening hours would be extended to include Saturday afternoons and the same range of Post Office products and services would be available, with the exception of online National Lottery, which has yet to be confirmed."

A final decision on the proposal will be announced soon after the consultation period ends on April 22nd.
