Prince Edward coming to Nelson!

PRINCE Edward – the Earl of Wessex – is returning to Pendle in March to open an impressive key new building in the heart of Nelson.

The Prince last came to the area in the summer of 2006 to visit Coldwell Activity Centre.

The state-of-the-art building which is the focus of his next visit to Pendle – Number One Market Street – will be opened on Thursday, March 13th.

The Prince will have a short tour of the building and meet staff and guests before unveiling a plaque.

It has already had one big name there – a celebration of its completion in October was led by boxer Amir Khan.

Number One Market Street is one of the most exciting developments and signals the town's rebirth, bringing 300 new jobs in the next few years. The flagship building on the former Grand Cinema site is owned and managed by Barnfield Investment Properties and is the outcome of an award-winning partnership between Pendle Council and Liberata UK Ltd.

It houses Contact Pendle, a central, single point of contact for residents who would like to visit for council services, pay their bills and pick up a wide range of information and advice.

The prestigious town centre building also provides office and retail units managed by Barnfield.

Mr Stephen Barnes, chief executive of Pendle Council, said: "We are thrilled His Royal Highness will help us to celebrate the opening of this fantastic building by formally marking the occasion. During his visit, he will be given the opportunity to walk round and meet some council and Liberata staff and other companies who occupy the offices."
