CHARITY PRESENTATION: Carl Barnacle from Pendleside Hospice receives a cheque for 2,000 from Carol McDonald, a volunteer in the Bosom Friends shop.

CANCER support charity Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends turned donor for the night on Wednesday when trustees and volunteers handed over £14,000 to seven other charities and organisations.

The Bosom Friends shop in Barnoldswick Town Square has done so well thanks to support in the area that Pendleside Hospice, the Barnoldswick and Earby Hospital Minibus, Barnoldswick Surgery, Earby Surgery, CR Research - part of Myeloma Research, Brain Tumour Research and Manchester Children’s Hospital oncology ward outreach programme for teenagers, were all given £2,000 each.

The organisations picked all have personal links to people who have been helped by Bosom Friends.

Trustee Mary Brennan explained that the shop has done especially well and has made an excess on top of money already donated by individuals and group fund-raisers.

She said: “Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who donated to the shop. It is always nice to be able to help people beyond our own charity when we can, and that is only possible through the generosity of people in the area.”

• The Swing Commanders, Europe’s number one Swing Band, will perform in the Rolls-Royce Ballroom on March 24th in aid of Bosom Friends. Tickets are £10 and the dance starts at 7-30 p.m.
