Following its conversion to academy status in January, Colne Primet High School has been renamed “Central Pendle Academy” at the start of the new academic year.
Principal Janet Walsh explained that the academy, the first in Pendle, is part of Pendle Education Trust, which was set up by Nelson and Colne College.
She said: “Obviously we are at the start of our journey as an academy, but with new uniform, new logo and the introduction of a new house system, already it feels different.
“Clearly we are retaining much of the good practice that was in place at Primet, but we now have a really good opportunity to develop a new approach to our work.”
Central Pendle is having an official opening this month and there are a number of events planned throughout this year to mark the start of a new beginning for what was Pendle’s oldest secondary school.
