Glenda Pilkington together with Ken and Jenny Routh jumped into action after hearing the news of Sarah Monk (36), from Sough, who is suffering with breast and lung cancer.

The three have presented Sarah with £2,916.28, helping her towards a dream family holiday to Florida. The money, which includes a £250 donation from Colne Freemasons and £200 from a raffle at Littlemoor House in Sabden where Glenda works, was otherwise raised through a concert and donations by kind-hearted miners’ club regulars.

Glenda said: “The Miners’ Club has been amazing, their efforts raised £2,400 for this family’s appeal and we can’t thank all the regulars and everyone involved for their generosity.”
