Matthew O'Donnell (36), will be walking halfway around the Isle of Wight with his wife Hannah, who is also walking in memory of her mother.

Matthew is raising money for Pendleside Hospice because his mum, Mrs Susan O'Donnell, died from cancer in April 2014. Mrs O'Donnell was a well-known dinner lady, who worked at St James' Church of England Primary School, Burnley.

Matthew said: “I feel excited and nervous but I’m really glad to be walking for Pendleside. Anything I can do to give a little back to the team who provided my mum (and our immediate family) with the round the clock care in our time of need will be worth all my energy on this challenging walk.

"Mum battled with her cancer up until her very last breath and I’m really hoping to channel some of her strength in the last miles of the walk.”
