An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a Nelson man who was found hanging from a tree on the Brierfield-Nelson boundary.

The body of Sarunas Grigas (24), of Rupert Street, was discovered on the afternoon on March 11th in woodland on the Hard Platts off Manchester Road.

Police have confirmed that they had spoken with Mr Grigas on a bridge over the Leeds- Liverpool Canal in Nelson earlier the same day.

East Lancashire Coroner Mr Richard Taylor adjourned the inquest until May 27th.
