An Army Cadet from Barnoldswick has been presented with a shiny shield for star work in collecting cash in the annual poppy appeal.
Craven College student Jessica Wright (16), of Bolland Street, was presented with the Royal British Legion Shield by Chairman of Barnoldswick and District branch Ann-Marie Benford.
The award is presented annually to the cadet who raised the most money for the Legion in the fortnight up to Remembrance Sunday, and Jessica was out in the cold come rain or shine to collect £163.93 of a £5,500 branch total.
Jessica was recently promoted to the position of Lance Corporal within the Cadet Force for demonstrating leadership skills and Detachment Commander Michael Worden was full of praise for her.
Mr Warden said: “All the Cadets are encouraged to go out and collect as its part of the role.
“Some went out in pairs but Jessica collected on her own and has raised a fantastic amount. Jessica has been in the Cadets two years and has come out of her shell while she has been here.”
