Volunteers who carry out book work to help people who can’t get to their library have been given long service awards.
The library’s Christine Mercer explained: “I work for the Library Service and run the Home Library Service for the Pendle area. This service takes books to people who cannot physically access the library, whether through age or disability.
“The service is run by Lancashire County Council and delivered by volunteers provided by the Royal Voluntary Service.
“Recently, six of the volunteers who help deliver books received long-service awards for 10 years service from Joan Houghton from the Royal Voluntary Service.”
