Man hospitalised after crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 49-year-old man was taken to hospital following a collision in Colne.

Police were called by the Ambulance Service around 4-15pm on Friday to reports of an accident in Albert Road.

A 49-year-old man driving a Rover car had collided with a Hyundai car causing minor damage.

Paramedics attended and found the man unresponsive. Officers believe he had fallen ill at the wheel and was taken to Airedale Hospital for treatment where he remains.

The female driver of the Hyundai was uninjured.

Sgt Claire Pearson, of Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Colne on Friday.

“We understand the driver had fallen ill at the wheel and he is currently being treated at hospital for a head injury.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. Albert Road was very busy at the time of the collision and we believe a number of motorists may have seen what happened.”
