Man robbed in Brierfield: police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a Burnley man was punched in the face and robbed in Brierfield.

At around 8:50pm last Thursday, the 23-year old victim was walking along Halifax Road when he was grabbed by two men and marched across the road lose to the Hill Street junction with Burnley Road.

He was punched in the eye and had his grey bag stolen containing his wallet which had £15 cash inside.

DC Shazia Sadiq from Burnley CID said: “Did you see three men in the area at the time? This happened on a busy road so someone must have seen something.

“If you have any information that could assist us with our investigation please get in touch.”

The offenders are described as of Asian origin, in their mid twenties, both of slim build, with one wearing a blue and white hooded top with dark bottoms and the other wearing a dark hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Two men aged18 and 20 from Brierfield were arrested on suspicion of robbery in relation to this incident but had been bailed pending further enquiries until 22 June.
