The Rev Joy Clough served as minister at Haggate Baptist Church in Briercliffe, Burnley, for a decade from 1974 to 1984. Born in Andover, Hampshire, Rev Clough completed her ministerial training in London and after that she served at various churches across the country including three in Oxfordshire and Watford.

She joined the ministry in her 20s and before that she worked in several different places including the former Baptist House in London, headquarters for the church. Rev Clough spent the last decade of her career at Haggate. After her retirement she kept active in the church, helping out with services at churches in Burnley and Nelson as a minister. But she also lent her talents to them as a skilled organiser and secretary. A funeral service for Rev Clough was held at Burnley and Nelson United Reformed Church in Burnley last Wednesday. She leaves Trevor, her husband of 32 years.
