Fence and Pendleside fundraising group managed to raise a fantastic £1,580 for Pendleside Hospice at their annual Open Gardens event.

The event was held on a weekend in July and there were 11 gardens along the route in Fence selling plants and offering drinks and refreshments.

Organiser Anne Callaghan said: “There were 11 lovely and varied gardens open for viewing over the weekend in July in aid of Pendleside Hospice.

“This is an annual event where lots of regular visitors come and enjoy the gardens on show.

“The public were able to walk round the gardens over two afternoons, and complimented the gardeners on their planting and design.

“Refreshments were served on the lawns in two gardens at either end of the village.

“Thanks to the people who kindly opened their gardens and to the visitors who supported the event. We would love anybody else in Fence to join in next year and open their garden for the event, if they are interested please get in touch.”
