Trawden’s Paul Oldham has finished ninth in the men’s cross-country mountain biking in Glasgow at the Commonwealth Games.
The 36-year-old, who works at Hope Technology in Barnoldswick, was at his first games, and finished in a time of 1:41:35, behind winner Anton Cooper of New Zealand in 1:38:26.
Paul was the second-best Team England finisher, with Liam Kileen sixth in 1:41:57.
Paul had said ahead of the race: “In theory it should be a reasonably close race.
“There will be a couple at the front, but I could be near the medals if things go well.
“If they don’t, I could easily be out of the top 10.
“But this has been my goal for the year - it’s my last chance really to do anything like this, I’m getting on a bit now!”
