Defendant Matthew Coughlin took his mother’s new notability car without her permission, crashed it and then set fire to it, Burnley Crown Court was told.
Loughlin (19), of Newfield Drive, Nelson, was remanded in custody after Judge Beverly Lunt said there was far too great a risk her would not attend his next court hearing.
He pleaded guilty to taking the Morris Meriva car without consent and causing damage. The case was adjourned until October 30th for pre-sentence reports. Loughlin was warned he would very likely go to prison.
