A member of Nelson’s St John Ambulance Unit has been presented with a high-ranking award. Miss Grace Smith (11) was presented at the Christmas Party on December 5th with a ‘Super-Badger’ award.

This is the culmination of four years’ worth of hard work, and regularly active attendances at the unit.

Leader Jonathan Leigh said: “To qualify for the award, she had to complete 12 certificated subjects in a variety of genres, ranging from First Aid, Caring, Health, Wildlife, Exploring the History of St John, Food and Hygiene, Physical activity, Communications, World events, Crafts, Ecological awareness, and Hobbies.

“Grace is now an active member of the Cadet Division and is working towards her Grand-Prior award. She is also a Year 6 pupil at St Paul’s Primary School, Nelson. All of her youth leaders are very proud of her achievement.”
