Treasury boss visits Burnley

Britain’s treasury boss has become the latest top Government figure to make an official visit to Burnley.

Danny Alexander, who is the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, toured key sites in the town and met with business bosses.

The high-ranking Lib Dem MP visited the Brierfield Mills development which will be home to the £25m. cyber security business park.

He was given a tour of booming online fashion retailer Boo Hoo, which is set for a £5m. expansion, and met with bosses at high-tech aerospace firm Velocity Composites.

Mr Alexander was taken around Burnley General Hospital by Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle to discuss funding for a new opthalmology and surgical unit.

He also visited Heasandford Primary School to see the impact of the Pupil Premium first hand.
