TWO women were taken to hospital after a pair of cars were in collision on the roundabout at the junction of Leeds Road and Reedyford Road in Nelson on Friday morning.
Two ambulance crews joined Road Policing at the scene, and there was a major traffic problem towards both Nelson and Colne on Leeds Road at the morning peak rush-hour.
The crash involved a black VW Golf and a silver Honda Civic, and there were women injured in both cars – a driver in one and a passenger in the other. The passenger was placed on a stretcher with possible back injuries and was transferred to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
And the Golf driver was taken to Burnley General Hospital for treatment. But it was revealed that both had minor injuries rather than something serious.
PC Mick Baker from the Road Policing Unit at Colne said: “We have spoken to three witnesses but we would like to hear from any other witnesses. They can contact us by calling 472481.”
Despite delays, the road was not closed down and traffic went in both directions. There have been a whole series of accidents on Leeds Road over recent years, with fatalities and serious injuries.
