Mickey and Minnie Mouse led a troop of volunteers in the fight against inequality last month.

SKT Welfare volunteers braved the rain during a street collection lasting five hours in Nelson town centre. They raised a fantastic £203 for those living in impoverished conditions in Syria.

Volunteer Usma Hussain said: "Passersby were very generous and keen to learn more about the charity.

"We'd like to thank Pendle Council for allowing the street collection."

The volunteers are continuing to call for donations of essential items, like blankets, tinned food and clothing and would like to thank everyone who has so far made a contribution. In its latest campaign, Lancashire to Syria, the charity will send a large shipping container of brand-new items to the needy overseas.
