the sound of military music resounded around Nelson town centre on Sunday afternoon as the band and corps of drums from the Royal Regiment of Fusliers held a march in town.

Organised by the Nelson and District branch of the Royal British Legion, the march began outside Oscar’s Video shop in Scotland Road at 2 p.m. and travelled along Scotland Road and Market Street to the war memorial, where a service was held to honour the 101 Fusiliers named on the memorial, of which 69 are of the old Lancashire Fusiliers Regiment.

On completion of the service, led by the Rev. Philip Knowles, a march past was held and the salute taken by Mayor of Pendle Coun. Tony Beckett.
