CRIME figures in Nelson once again showed a year-on-year improvement when they were presented to Pendle councillors on Monday night.

Insp. Paul Leigh told members of the Nelson Committee that there had been 10 fewer crimes last month than in January, 2010.

There had been a small increase in the numbers of burglaries and vehicle-related crime, but a small reduction in violent crimes and a significant fall in the amount of criminal damage, he said.

l Insp. Leigh also told councillors mounted police will be making a return to local streets in the next few weeks.
