pendle MP Andrew Stephenson is to look into potential problems for the Pendle Voice Talking Newspaper if the Royal Mail is privatised.

At the moment, Pendle Voice sends out cassette readings of newspapers and magazines to visually impaired people by Freepost. That includes our editions, of course.

When Mr Stephenson visited the studio in Smith Street, Nelson, to see how tapes were produced, concerns were expressed about how this may be affected in the future. Mr Stephenson said: “The volunteers do a fantastic job and it was good to have a look round and see what they do. I will raise their concerns in Parliament and try to find out more about the issue.”
