A Colne mum who runs music and play sessions for babies and pre-schoolers has been shortlisted for a national award.
Janette Taylor, who runs Hartbeeps sensory, play and music sessions has been nominated as the “most outstanding activity leader for under-5s in the West and Wales” category of the What’s on 4 Awards.
The awards programme celebrates the best activities, classes and volunteers throughout the UK as nominated and voted for by the experts – parents themselves.
Hartbeeps has also been nominated as the best national pre-schooler development activity (2-5 years), and best national baby and toddler development activity (newborn to 2 years).
Janette said: “The nominations that people wrote were so lovely. I’m just delighted to be nominated. It will be really hard to win it as it is a national award.”
Hartbeeps classes take children on an adventure through musical story telling using unusual props, puppetry, baby signing, dramatic play and dress set to its own sound track of original songs and reworked nursery rhymes and songs.
Janette added: “I’ve been doing this for three years in October and it has been brilliant, I really enjoy it.
“I was a full time mum and foster carer and I wanted to do something to keep myself busy part time.
“I’ve always worked with children and wanted to so the same again. There isn’t a massive amount of options for little ones around here so I suppose I got a little lucky but it really works well with the mums and youngsters. I also go into nurseries and schools too.
“I’m so busy with it now that my husband is a home dad and foster carer and I do this full time.
“I see around 300 children each week and I try and remember every name.”
From now until May, 11th 2016, parents can vote for their favourite from all of the nominees using this link
