A scheme to bring a Nelson garage site back into community use is set to go before Pendle Council’s Executive on Thursday.
The triangular site is bounded by Athol Street, Temple Street and Holly Street and to the south of Walverden School.
It has seven individual plots but only one has a garage on it at the moment, said a report from locality and policy team manager Tim Horsley to members.
He said: “Although there has been some recent improvement with the removal of derelict garages and local residents clearing waste, the site remains largely unmaintained, badly overgrown, frequently flytipped and an eyesore for local residents and pupils and staff at the school.”
The site has been on the environmental blight list drawn up by the council’s Nelson Committee for several years.
Mr Horsley’s report said all the plot owners had been contacted and, other than the one in use, none had plans to use them in the foreseeable future.
The majority had expressed support for the plans to bring the site to be put to some form of community use.
