The proposed change of use of a disused storage building to a taxi office with parking for six vehicles should be refused, says a Pendle Council planning officer.

In his report to the council’s Nelson Committee on Monday recommending refusal, Lee Greenwood says the development to the rear of Railway Street would be detrimental to the vitality and viability of Nelson town centre.

He also says the inadequacy of parking provision and lack of an on-site turning space would have an adverse impact on highway safety.
