Market traders have pulled together to keep the legacy of heroes alive in the centenary year of the First World War.
“Picture Painter Man” Shaun Wright and owner of Glamourice Maureen Hardacre have created a wall in their workplace Colne Market, for people to share memories from the global war.
It has so far attracted everything from photographs, to postcards, to memorabilia, and a Facebook page also launched by the duo has gained more than 100 likes.
Mr Wright (50), who has been working at the Market Street site for more than a year, said: “The reaction to the wall has been really good, and people love it.
“People sometimes think that it is just for Colne, but it is for anybody.
“There have also been people who didn’t know they were related see that they had the same great-grandfather - we were hoping that would happen.
“Hopefully this will be an ongoing project for a couple of years. It has been quite a draw, and a lot of people have commented on it. We want people to remember.”
