Barnoldswick has its very own slimming wonder woman who has helped dozens of West Craven folk lose a total of 604lbs. during January.
Margaret Greenwood (56), of Gisburn Road, Barnoldswick, saw a total of 66 new members join her weekly Rainhall Centre Slimming World sessions in Barlick in January and her total of 101 members shed an enormous 43st. 2lbs. in the month.
The new year increase in uptake is all the more remarkable as the sessions, which used to be run at the New Road Community Centre in Earby until last July, attracted between 25 and 30 people on average.
Margaret picked up a bronze award for averaging 40 members across the month, then a ruby award for welcoming 40 addtional members in one month, next came the sapphire award for 45 new members in a two week period, and lastly the diamond certificate for 60 people signing up in a calendar month.
According to Margaret, statistics show 25% of adults in Pendle are overweight. As a Slimming World veteran having lost 6st. herself on the programme,
Margaret said: “I truly believe I have the best, most rewarding job in the world – there’s no better feeling than helping someone to achieve their dream weight and feel good about themselves – so winning these awards really is the icing on the cake.”
