Postman Peter Francis had the surprise of his life when he went out on his round in Higherford on Wednesday.
For Peter had let it slip when delivering the other day that he would be 50 on Wednesday – and residents in Grange Avenue and Meadow Edge decided to make an extra special day for him.
And when he turned out on his round, he found the vast majority of people were displaying greetings messages in their front windows.
“He was thrilled to bits by it all. I think he thought it had slipped under the radar but everyone thought it was a good idea,” said resident Keith Whitwell, who thought up the plan.
