A PENDLE man who was reported missing in action during the Second World War has died at the age of 95.
Bernard Waddington, of St Clement’s Court, Barrowford, was reported as missing while serving in the Royal Artillery in Greece.
Mr Waddington had, in fact, been taken prisoner and spent the rest of the war in captivity, as letters sent to his parents confirmed.
After the war, he was employed by the North-West Electricity Board as an overhead linesman.
He enjoyed bingo and most sports, attending Burnley FC games at Turf Moor in his younger days.
Mr Waddington died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday of last week after a short illness.
He is survived by a son , Gary.
His funeral will take place at Burnley Crematorium at 10-40am on Friday.
