A PASSIONATE performer is hoping to help others follow their dreams after setting up a dance school in Colne.

Helen O’Connell (25), from Nelson, started dancing at the Chippendale School of Dance, in Colne, when she was just three-years-old.

She went on to gain advanced levels with the RAD and ISTD examining boards, and has since starred in many professional pantomimes with PMA Productions.

Now, after travelling the world and getting married in the summer, the dancer, who has been an active member of both the Colne Operatic Society and the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Company, is ready to share her experience with other budding stars.

She has now set up Encore Dance School, and is now holding classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre and Zumba Fitness at Flava Dance and Fitness, in Albert Road, and at Burnley College.

Helen, who has previously won a Howard Rigg Leader Times Stage Award for Best Actress in a Musical, and who has worked for many companies including Costa and Princess Cruises, said: “I had the opportunity to dance in professional productions all over the globe.

“I worked with Adrian Zmed, star of T.J. Hooker and Grease, and alongside world famous magician acts. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a professional dancer.

“I had trained to teach, so naturally I planned on opening a school to try and encourage as many children and young people to develop a healthy fun loving hobby. Who knows, there may be more pupils that will follow their dream?”

For more information on Encore Dance School, and for class timetables visit www.encoredanceschool.co.uk or call 077865311335.

Classes are available for both children and adults.
