SIX Pendle students were among the “Oscar” winners when A-Level and advanced vocational media students from Burnley College held a Hollywood-style ceremony at Hollywood Park Apollo Cinema..
The awards evening recognised the achievements of the students and showcased their final projects. Students were nominated for a number of awards in categories including music video, factual programming, opening sequence, public information advertisement, animation, short film and trailer.
Many of the students are now progressing to university courses in media-related subjects including media and popular culture, media technology, journalism and TV production and film technology and special effects.
Anne-Marie Francis, Head of Creative Arts and Media at Burnley College, said: “The Oscars event was an opportunity to show the best of our students’ work and reward them for the projects they have worked on throughout the year.
“We have been very pleased with the quality of work produced by our students and their creativity in developing ideas for videos, films and advertisements. We are privileged to have excellent media production facilities at our campus which has helped the students to learn industry standard skills.
“We would also like to thank the Apollo Cinema for hosting this event in their Directors Auditorium.”
The Oscar winners from Pendle were:
• Music Video Year Two - James Hutton-Brown (Colne) and Gabriella Shaw (Trawden).
• Animation - Chelsea Baker (Nelson) and Gabriella Shaw.
• Factual Programme - Alistair Dickinson (Nelson).
• Trailer - Adam Stansfield (Nelson).
• Short Film - Will Moulton (Barrowford) and James Hutton-Brown.
