Police are hunting two men after a street robbery at an ATM machine in Nelson.

The incident, around 5-40 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12th, took place next to the Spar store in Netherfield Road when a 29-year-old woman was approached by the two men after withdrawing £40 cash.

One of the men threatened the woman demanding she handed over the money which she did after he produced a knife. Both men then ran off.

Detective Superintendent Charlie Haynes from Pendle’s Criminal Investigations Department said: “We have examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area and have spoken to the witnesses who have so far come forward.

“As a result of these enquiries, my detectives are currently looking for the two men who they believe may be responsible for this crime.

“The victim has been left understandably shaken by the incident but, fortunately, was not physically injured. It is a priority for the police to remove these dangerous individuals from the streets.

“I would remind individuals when using cash machines, to be mindful and vigilant of individuals in the area, especially after dark. I would also reassure people that attacks of this nature are rare in Pendle.”
