Police are investigating a double raid at a Nelson company which manufactures luxury towels.

The raids on the Lancashire Towel Company in Hallam Road on New Year’s Eve and on Saturday have seen £4,500 of items stolen.

These include bath and hand towels, bed linen and pillow cases and face cloths while a red Dell laptop worth £450 was taken.

Thieves first broke in between 8am and 9am on December 31st when a padlock was cut. The second time, between noon on Friday and 10am on Sunday, a padlock was smashed.

Police say they are looking for two white men in relation to the first of the break-ins, one being at least 6ft. tall and of slim build and the other slightly shorter and aged between 20 and 30.

Sgt Tim Hitchen, of Nelson police, said: “An investigation into the burglaries is underway.

“I would urge anybody who is offered items of this nature from people who wouldn’t normally be selling towels or bed linen to report it to the police.”
